BAFTA Writers:
Time Travel in TV Drama and Comedy
Monday 6 October @ The ATRiuM, Cardiff
Television time travel, be it backward or forward, seems to be such a ratings winner. It is not science fiction, it has a genre all of its own, and audiences flock to it. Goodnight Sweetheart is a comedy, Life On Mars is a drama, and who knows how you categorise Doctor Who? For a writer time travel opens so many possibilities – nothing is off limits.
So let’s step aboard our own TARDIS and join Steven Moffat, BAFTA award-winning writer of Doctor Who, Ashley Pharoah, Emmy winning writer of Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes and Maurice Gran, BAFTA award-winning writer of Goodnight Sweetheart, for an evening of time travel insight and fun in Cardiff, the home town of time travel drama.
Highlighted by clips, these inspirational writers will take us on a time travel journey sharing their motivations, inspirations and secrets as to what makes a successful British drama within the world of time travel.
Produced by BAFTA London and BAFTA Cymru, this evening will be chaired by Laurence Marks, BAFTA award-winning comedy writer of The New Statesman, Goodnight Sweetheart and Birds of a Feather.
Supported by BBC Cymru Wales and by The ATRiuM
